Meet Our Founder

Hello and welcome! I am Dr. Phylicia McCalla, Founder & CEO of DrPHconsults. I am a public health leader and an education advocate that believes in equitable access to higher education for all. Through DrPHconsults, I am committed to sharing my knowledge and experiences with students to support them on their educational journeys and to equip them with resources to achieve their highest potential. 

I bring my professional expertise and lived experiences to DrPHconsults. I received a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Pennsylvania. I am a Gates Millennium Scholar and a member of the Delta Omega Public Health Honorary Society, Alpha Chapter. My background includes over a decade of health care experience working with top U.S. medical institutions including Cleveland Clinic, Penn Medicine, Children’s National Hospital, Mount Sinai Health System, and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). 

Throughout the years, I have helped numerous prospective and current students reach their academic goals through mentorship and coaching, and I can do the same for you! I've worked with students at all points along the academic pathway to higher education, from high school students to doctoral students. I provide students with the resources I sought when I was pursing my own educational and professional goals.
